    Practice Resources Manager
    Sr. Research and Business Development Associate

     

    Practice Resources Manager specialty area Electronic Health Records 

    Full time telecommuting position

     

    AHIMA's  corporate office has an immediate opening for an experienced Practice Resources Manager to provide members and other customers of AHIMA with a range of professional practice services, which include:

     

    Managing short- and long-term projects.

     

    Creating and developing timely resources for the advancement of members in emerging technology disciplines.

     

    Forecasting future roles and skills for HIM professionals related to information technology and electronic health records.

     

    Creating and developing position statements, practice briefs and guidelines for publication related to technology .

     

    Leading or serving as liaison to AHIMA alliance organizations, task forces, and/or practice councils.

     

    Communicating products and resources in a variety of methods.

     

    Responding to member questions and request for resources relative to HIM professional practice and information systems use

     

    Required knowledge:

    1. An experienced health information manager with registered health information administrator credentials and background in use of technology in the practice of HIM
    2. Have at least ten years of HIM practice experience in a managerial or consulting role is optimal, with a variety of HIM experience (in terms of healthcare settings and positions held).
    3. Where knowledge and experience are not complete; either through time or breadth of responsibility, the individual must be able to recognize limitations and seek input from other authoritative sources.
    4. A Graduate (Master’s or Doctorate) degree is desirable.

     

    Required skills:

    1. Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills, conveying credibility, professionalism and AHIMA values and principles in informal conversations with callers, trade journal interviews, and formal speaking engagements.
    2. Demonstrated group leadership and facilitation skills in order to direct the activities of volunteer task forces and councils toward a finished, professional product, using advanced project management skills as described above.
    3. The ability to research topics thoroughly, assimilate information correctly, and communicate effectively in writing to produce articles, position statements, practice briefs, and guidelines that are focused, accurate and understandable.
    4. Demonstrated HIM skills in order to provide sound technical review of products and accurate responses to member questions.
    5. Demonstrated skill in information technology with moderate competencies in IT networks, use of the Internet, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software necessary to perform the work required.

    Sr. Research and Business Development Associate

    POSITION PURPOSE

     

    The Business Development and Strategy group works to find ways to grow the organization’s business and to identify new products/services, while continually monitoring customer and market needs, identifying shifts and innovation by industry players, and to drive business development efforts around alliances and acquisitions. This team provides strategic insight to senior leadership through fact-based analysis and innovative thinking, while considering internal and external perspectives.

    The Sr. Research and Business Development Associate is responsible for helping the organization effectively conduct its business insights and market analytics (BIMA) as well as supporting business development and strategy (BDS). 

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Establish productive working relationships with individuals across the company and interpret research results providing effective business insights and market analytics.

     

    • Establish research methodology and design formats for data gathering with responsibilities including the following: summarize and interpret results, financial and business performance area metrics; employing various research methodologies utilizing Web-based survey building and refinement; data analysis using SPSS and other data software tools.
    • Design and prepare reports for business areas as requested to track and monitor performance of elements of the association business.
    • Responsible for the development and maintenance of a centralized Competitive Intelligence functional center with the BDS area.
    • Provide analysis, maintenance, functionality expertise, testing, support and training for the Lyris Email Management System.
    • Work with the Business Development Team to create new business opportunities, generate market research that contributes to the generation of revenue through management of member/non-member lists.

     

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

     

    Knowledge:  To be credible to staff and other Association customers, the individual who occupies this position must:

    • Have (6) years’ relevant experience in market research and theory.
    • Illustrate ability to create high quality Web survey instruments, including scheduling and distribution.
    • Be able to manage the workflow of new project opportunities while maintaining current workload.
    • Demonstrate analytical skills required, with the ability to select appropriate data to support market research and findings.  Excellent attention to detail required, with the ability to provide highly accurate, decision-ready work product for the team.
    • Display ability to compile and deliver executive summaries on business/competitive intelligence and new technology, pooling knowledge from various sources for the services of the department and the organization.
    • Exhibit computer literacy required to include a proficiency in the MS Office Suite; advanced expertise in MS Access and COGNOS or Business Objects required as well as experience with statistical software such as SPSS.
    • Have an understanding of Internet environment, web standards, and best practices, including spam and ISP reconciliation.

     

    Skills:  The individual must have skills and experience in the following:

    • Capacity to make suggestions and recommendations of process re-engineering to users of the Lyris email management system, and implementations of these new processes.
    • Excellent communication and organization/time management skills required, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and direction in a very dynamic work environment.
    • Manage and maintain key external vendor partner relationships and appraising new vendors for the potential of a beneficial relationship.
    • Experience with search engine optimization, search engine marketing, web analytics reporting and the ability to convey the organization’s web strategy to respective vendors.
    • Must possess demonstrated technical skills in survey development tools such as Zarca Interactive or a comparable survey tool.
    • Must possess the ability to use technology effectively to present quantitative information, convey ideas, facilitate analysis and support recommendations.
    • Experience in developing emails and email campaign deployment platform (Lyris List manager software or comparable software desired).
    • Expertise in HTML design of emails desired.

     

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Marketing, to include coursework in market research.   Certification is preferred.
